Biographical Information

Morgan William Fisher Dickerson was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1908, and grew up in Woodbury, New Jersey where he attended elementary and high school.

After graduation from Woodbury High School, he worked for a year to fund his college studies. He attended Temple University in Philadelphia for one year and transferred to Howard University for pre dental studies.

Dickerson graduated from Howard University Dental School in 1937. He received the Guggenheim Fellowship, and completed his internship at the Guggenheim University Dental Clinic in New York.

In September 1939, Dickerson married Ellen Weddington, and moved to Pueblo, Colorado where he practiced dentistry for two years, and then moved to Denver to share a practice with Dr. Clarence Holmes. Dr. Dickerson later established his own practice at 21st and Downing Streets in Denver.

In 1943 he was inducted into the United States Army as a Lieutenant, and served in the Dental Corps until the end of the War. After the war, he served in the United States Army Reserves, finally retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Dr. Dickerson was a member of the Denver Dental Association, the Eureka Coin Club, the Prospector's Club, and the Howard University Alumni Association. He was also an active member of Shorter A.M.E. Church, where he served as organist and choir director.
